Panoramas... defined as 2x1 format or wider.... offer a different perspective on the world as opposed to the traditional 2x3, 4x3 or 4x5 format. Some of these are merged photos, some are shot by a camera that has an automatic panorama mode, and some are single-shot images cropped to the dimensions shown.
